Our Pastor

Reverend William M. Jordan, III, M.Div.

Rev. William M. Jordan, III was born in Washington, D.C. where he was reared in the A.M.E. Church. He was also exposed to the Presbyterian Church through the paternal side of this family and the Baptist Church through his maternal side. Rev. Jordan has been in the ministry for 30 years. He is presently the Sr. Pastor of Rockwell A.M.E. Zion Church where he has been pastoring the second oldest African American church in Charlotte, N.C. since 1992.  Also, since 1992, Rev. Jordan has been instrumental in purchasing 15.5 Acers of property which was paid for in 4 years.  We now have a new sanctuary that was built on this property and completed in 2006 under the leadership of Rev. Jordan.  Rev. Jordan spent seven of those thirty years in the Church of God in Christ (COGIC). Rev. Jordan has pastured churches in Tennessee, Forest City, NC and Morganton, N.C.

Rev. Jordan received his education in the public school system in Washington, D.C. After graduating, he went on to do his undergraduate work in psychology at Morgan State College. After completing his education at Morgan State, he entered Central Piedmont Community College where he received a Associate of Applied Science Degree in Law Enforcement. In the fall of 2001, he successfully completed criminal justice studies at Pfeiffer University and was awarded a Bachelor of Science degree. Rev. Jordan presently has earned his Master of Divinity Degree from Hood Theological Seminary.  Additionally, he is now enrolled at Hood Theological Seminary in the Doctor of Ministry Program.  Rev. Jordan is a lifelong scholar.

Central Piedmont Community College employs Rev. Jordan as the Directory of Security Services. He is a retired Police Officer who worked as a Reserve for the Charlotte Mecklenburg Police Department. Rev. Jordan believes in professing a physical presence within the community, and being actively involved in the community.

He is married to First Lady JoAnn Burgess Jordan, formerly of Franklin, N.C. He has reared four children (Raymond Charles, William M. IV, Leá Vee Lavern, and Julian Jay Jordan), and is the proud grandfather of twelve beautiful grandchildren. He believes very deeply in salvation, sanctification, and the baptism of the Holy Spirit. To him, fasting and prayer is a reality and should be a part of one´s spiritual life.
